1.) Preparation

1.1 Thoroughly clean the floor where the laying process will takes place

1.2 Determine the construction line on the floor and columns by tightening a tendon vertically and horizontally as determined

1.3 Make the holes at the structure by using electric drilling machine to drill the columns; the distance between the holes should not be more than 60 cm in order to embed ? 6 mm. ñ 0.25 mm metal rod

2. ) Laying process for SUPERBLOCK

2.1 Begin to lay SUPERBLOCK by leveling the floor approx. 1 – 2 cm. thick with normal cement

2.2 Superblock should be laid overlapping with each other. The overlap distance between the top and bottom blocks should not be less than 10 cm. In between each block, apply 3 – 5 mm. thick of glue mortar to the blocks and glue mortar should be fully filled on all surface area (no gaps allow) for all 4 sides of the block

2.3 Columns are not required since Superblock can be interlocked at every corner except columns are required by the designer

2.4 Normal concrete casting procedure at site is still requiring when laying the blocks around door or window frames to proper stiffening door or window frames to Superblock. Or Superblock lintels may be used if the thickness of the wall is more than 10 cm.

2.5 In the case where the wall is longer than the determined standard inside the building (according to table 1 and 2, no. 4 ) outside the building (according to side load calculation table), columns or lintels will be required. The width of the inside columns should be 10 – 12 cm and 15 cm for outside columns

2.6 The space of approx. 2 cm should be left between the beams and the wall top and fill the space with cement or Superblock glue mortar

2.7 Some civil regulations require that 2.5 cm of space should be left between beams and the wall top to account for post tension or steel structure buildings. Flexible materials such as foam or rubber sheet may be used to fill the space

2.8 In the case where embedding the sanitary and electrical pipes will be done after the laying process, chasing tool will be used to groove Superblock by which the wall should be left for 2 days for proper bonding. Then concrete mixture can be used to fill the gap between the walls after the pipes have been embedded to the walls

2.9 In the case that the water and electric pipelines have been installed before laying the wall, SUPERBLOCK wall should be laid 1 – 2 cm. away from the laying line then fill the gap with cement. If the pipelines are too small, chisel SUPERBLOCK according to the pipelines path then the block can be laid and fill up the gap with cement or plastering mortar

3 ) Electronic devices installation
General anchors available in the market can be used for installing electronic devices and other equipments on SUPERBLOCK wall. Anchors can be divided into 3 types according to the weight as the followings;

  • Light Duty: size 5 - 8 mm . can receives the weight of 10 - 20 kg / piece
  • Medium Duty: size 8 - 12 mm . can receives the weight of 25 - 40 kg /piece
  • Heavy Duty: size 12 - 16 mm can receives the weight of 50 - 80 kg / piece

4.) Cautions

  • In the case where the space has to be left between the wall top and the beams, the process should be stopped by using the lintel only and lintel’s size should not be smaller than the size of the columns
  • In the case where the wall laying process is stop within the length of 1.20 m, a column will not be required to attach to the end of the wall and the plastering process can start right away
  • Glue mortar which has been mixed for more than 30 minutes can not be used for laying blocks

Plastering process for SUPERBLOCK

Preparation

1.1 Spill the water by using a brush and use a broom to clean the wall surface
1.2 Determine plastering level for both vertically and horizontally by using a nail or a cement knob
1.3 Moisten the wall by sprinkle with water 3 times
1.4 Wait for the wall to absorb the water to almost dry then plastering process can begin

Plastering process

1.1 For plaster thickness not exceed 1 – 1.5 cm, can begin the plaster process right away by pressing the plaster trowel to control the thickness at 1 – 1.5 cm

1.2 Two layers of plastering will be required if the plaster thickness is exceeding 1.5 cm. The 1 st layer should be plastered at half of the total thickness but not exceed 1.5 cm and should be left to dry for 1 day. Then the 2 nd layer can be applied to the require thickness.

1.3 When the wall has been plastered to the require thickness, leave the surface to almost dry then use the brush to spill the water to the surface area where it will be pressed in circular motion by plaster trowel for at least 2 times. Then use a sponge and a broom to clean out sand grains to smoothen the wall surface.

1.4 The water should be sprayed to cure the surface of the plaster cement 3 days later.
